Each year AFL coaches are either put under scrutiny or praised for what they have done with the club's list and where their side has finished at the end of the year.

Whether it's a club going through a rebuild, a premiership contender, or a side failing to fulfil expectations, here is every coach ranked as safe, pressure-building, or under the pump heading into the 2027 season.

Justin Longmuir (Fremantle)

Safe

A Fremantle man through and through, Longmuir took over as coach in season 2020 after playing 139 games over nine years with them.

While his time coaching hasn't been smooth sailing, Longmuir has taken his side to a minor premiership in 2026 and is currently the flag favourite. He has taken his coaching to the next level this year, leading the club to a record 14 consecutive wins, accumulating his best win/loss record so far during his tenure, with a match still to play.

Although there was some uncertainty following his contract, which switched from a fixed term to an ongoing employment agreement, Longmuir is under no pressure whatsoever entering season 2027.
