Essendon defender Mason Redman had had his evening end early after a heavy fall during the first half of Saturday's clash with Collingwood.

The Bombers defender was ruled out for the remainder of the match shortly after half-time due to "internal bruising", with Essendon ruling out concussion concerns for the in-form defender.

Redman suffered the ailment in a heavy collision with Magpies forward Brody Mihocek, with a decision by the Bombers seemingly made at the main break.

The diagnosis - assuming no delayed concussion symptoms arise - will mean Redman will be free to play next weekend against North Melbourne should he be deemed fit.

Redman recorded 10 disposals and 2 tackles before being replaced by medical sub Brayden Ham for the second half.

Collingwood defender Brayden Maynard was also in the arms of medical staff after suffering a suspected shoulder injury in the third term after an attempted amother.

Maynard ventured down to the rooms, with Collingwood pulling the trigger on their medical sub change, with Josh Carmichael brought into the game.
