AFL legend Kevin Sheedy has gone viral after being filmed preventing Essendon fans from leaving the stadium early during the Bombers' spectacular loss to St Kilda on Sunday.

The video, taken by fans sitting on level 2 of Marvel, shows Sheedy, clad in a GWS scarf, walking down the aisle of the stadium to prevent a man and a woman from leaving.

Standing between the fans and the exit, Sheedy was heard saying "don't be marshmallows" to the couple before gesturing them back into their seats.

The video was then reposted by former player Dan Gorringe, on his account Dan Does Footy, with the caption "Oh this place really is a prison."

Speaking on the Six Points AFL podcast, Mark Stevens and Daniel Harford were in full support of Sheedy's unorthodox yet effective methods.

"What about Kevin Sheedy? How good was Sheeds? The Essendon supporters were leaving early, and he said don't go," Stevens said.

"It was great. They turned back. You couldn't say no to Sheeds."

"He was standing in the aisle, stopping supporters from leaving early. He said, no, you're not going to do this. You're going to stand the test of time and back our boys in all the way," Harford said.

"Which I really respect from Sheeds. You can't say no to Sheeds in that regard."

The Bombers continued their wretched run of form, claiming only one win in 29 starts.

Sunday's 67-point loss to St Kilda at the Docklands was another blip on the club's lack of intent and defensive work rate.

Caretaker coach Dean Solomon was quizzed on whether this is the lowest point in Essendon history.

"Yeah, well (the club's) gone through a lot, hasn't it, the last 20 years," Solomon said.

"There's been a few low points. Is it the lowest? I'm not sure, but it's difficult right now."
