West Coast defender Josh Rotham has signed a new three-year deal to keep him with the Eagles until the end of the 2024 season.

Off the back of his 2021 Grand Final Sprint victory, the 23-year-old has committed to remaining in the blue and gold and adding to his 33 career games.

Rotham is the latest Eagle to re-sign with the club this year, adding to a strong season of retention signings for Adam Simpson's side.

Oscar Allen (2025), Liam Duggan (2024), Callum Jamieson (2022), Jackson Nelson (2022), Jack Redden (2022), Josh Rotham (2024), Liam Ryan (2024), Dom Sheed (2025), Brad Sheppard (2023) and Zane Trew (2022) have also signed extensions in 2021.

Speaking on the announcement, Rotham said the hard work to further add to his game has paid off this year.

“You go into every season wanting to improve, and I think I did that,” he said.

“We’ve got really good competition for spots, so to come away playing 19 games was pleasing for me and hopefully I can just take another step next year.

“I think my improvement came from a bit of playing on the talls and smalls, and then I had a few games where I played on the most dangerous small.

“So I think I just improved with my versatility and just my consistency throughout the year.”

The Eagles have already announced that Brendon Ah Chee, Brayden Ainsworth, Will Collins, Mark Hutchings, Ben Johnson and Nathan Vardy have not been offered new deals for 2022, while forward Daniel Venable has announced his retirement.

Small forward Jarrod Cameron is set to take time away from the club next season, while wingman Jarrod Brander is likely to find a new home this off-season.
