After a late kick in the final term saw Essendon forward Jake Stringer end his game with 10 minutes to go, the Bombers were holding their breath as they awaited results on Stringer’s foot injury.

However, they can now breathe easy after scans revealed no serious foot injury, and better yet, the potential for Stringer to face St Kilda in Round 2.

“It’s alright, I’ve had some good news so I should be alright for this week,” Stringer told reporters on Monday.

“It’s just bruising so it will be all good.

“It was pretty quick (the scan result) so yeah, everything’s alright. I was pretty confident going in that it was alright, so yeah, it’s good.”

Finishing with 10 disposals and a goal in Round 1 against the Giants, Stringer and the Bombers look to redeem themselves against St Kilda after their devastating loss.
