Gold Coast has traded Pick 74 for troubled Western Bulldogs Jamarra Ugle-Hagan.

The former Pick 1 sat out the entire 2025 season after flagging personal problems.

The Bulldogs were keen to get his contract off their books, which was reportedly worth around $800,000 for next year.

"Jamarra's affiliation with the Western Bulldogs Football Club has spanned more than eight years, having been a product of our NGA program before becoming the number one selection in the 2020 draft," Bulldogs EGM of Men's Football Sam Power said.

"Over the past 12 months, Jamarra has faced some complex personal challenges and adversity, with a fresh start for both player and Club seen as the best outcome for all parties.

"During this period, Jamarra's welfare and wellbeing has remained the Club's sole priority, as we collectively navigated these challenges with Jamarra."
It is understood the 23-year-old has signed a one-year deal, with a trigger for a second, for around $250,000.

The Suns competed in their first finals campaign but were eliminated in the semi-finals by the eventual premier and cross-town rivals, Brisbane.

The initial interest in Ugle-Hagan suggested that the Queensland club believes it needs to bolster its front half, holding a host of young talent such as Ben King, Ethan Read, Jed Walter and Jy Farrar.

"As a football club we have a commitment to make sure we explore all options in an effort to give our club the best opportunity for success,"Gold Coast GM Player List & Talent Craig  Cameron said.

"We firmly believe that a fit and healthy Jamara can help us as a football club. He is a player with high forward craft and IQ that can not only add, but complement the exciting group of forwards we already have."

He has played 67 games and kicked 103 goals for the Bulldogs since he was drafted in 2020 from the Oakleigh Chargers.

Gold Coast is also expected to land Melbourne's Christian Petracca before Wednesday's, 7:30pm (AEDT) deadline.
