Richmond has landed Pick 38 from West Coast after sending defender Tylar Young across the Nullarbor.

Young has requested a trade to the Eagles at the cessation of his contract with Richmond following 35 games in three years during his time at Punt Road.

He recovered from an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury, returning to feature in the final seven matches of the 2025 campaign.

The 27-year-old has a host of connections already at the Eagles, and will reunite with former teammates Liam Baker and Jack Graham.

West Coast senior coach Andrew McQualter and list manager Matt Clarke also have ties to Young.

"We're really pleased to bring Tylar into our football club and believe he can make an immediate impact for us next season," Head of List Management and Recruiting Matt Clarke said.

"Tylar is a strong-bodied and mature key defender who our coach Andrew McQualter knows well from their time together.

"With his size and stature, he is capable of competing against the AFL's power forwards and he will complement our existing defensive stocks."

He will join Brandon Starcevich in Western Australia, while Oscar Allen (Brisbane), Liam Ryan (St Kilda) and Campbell Chesser (Carlton) departed the club.

Deven Robertson is also tipped to join West Coast.

The Eagles will hold Picks 1, 2, 13, 34, 41, 53, and 58.

The Tigers will add to their pair of top-four selections, and will have Pick 3, 4, and 38.

The later selection Richmond secured from West Coast has positioned the Tigers to be able to match a bid for father-son talent Louis Kellaway, who could be selected as early as the second round of the draft.

Kellaway is yet to be nominated by the Tigers ahead of next month's draft, but is likely to have the paperwork lodged to be a priority access talent.
