Brisbane have signed delisted Gold Coast midfielder Jarryd Lyons on the first day of the AFL Delisted Player Free Agency Period.

Lyons joins the Brisbane after playing 19 games in 2018

The 26-year-old averaged 25 disposals in 2018 and was ranked third overall for clearances in the competition.

General Manager of Football David Noble said Lyons will bring leadership to the young Brisbane midfield.

“To be able to land a player of Jarryd’s status to our group post the trade period is a great credit to our Club,” Noble told the club website.

“Jarryd brings a level of maturity in his game to our Club that will complement what we are putting together both in the midfield and forward lines.

“He certainly fits the strategy we have executed in the last 12 months of age and culture fit.

“His overhead marking is a skill that seems to get underestimated at times, so his capacity to be able to go forward is an option we think will allow us further flexibility."

Lyons becomes the fourth player to join the Lions in the off-season.

Lincoln McCarthy, Lachie Neale and Marcus Adams all joined the Lions in the off-season.

Brisbane hold picks 18, 30, 35, 56 and 78 in the National Draft.
