Greater Western Sydney captain Toby Greene has been at the club since its first game in the league back in 2012, but could the Giants' greatest ever player seek a return to his native state of Victoria this off-season?

While it's certainly no lock, it's not out of this world either. Greene is apparently being chased by Geelong, where he could link up with his best friend and former Giant Jeremy Cameron in the blue and white hoops.

Greene, 32, is out of contract at the end of 2026 and is reported to have a three-year deal offered to him by GWS, but there is growing speculation that the star veteran could be interested in a move back to the home state that would allow him one last push for a maiden premiership.

Speaking on SEN, the Giants skipper didn't reveal where his mind was at in terms of what club he wants to call home for Round 1, 2027.

"Zak Butters will take a bit of heat off me, I think, in the next 12 weeks anyway, and so he should," Greene said on SEN. "He is eight years younger and a better player.

“So it is what it is, and I have had a lot of media scrutiny in my life, and that's usually for things I have done wrong and deserve it, so it's not something I am unaccustomed to, and whatever comes will come.

“I want to enjoy my footy. I want to be at a club that is competing. I want to get the best out of the last few years of my career, and I want to be a good player who can contribute as well on a personal level. They all come into it; that is where I sit at the moment. All I want to do is play my role to get us back into the season.”

Greene did concede that his wife, Georgia, and their family will likely return to Victoria at some point in the future for family reasons, but whether that will also be to continue Greene's already glistening career remains to be seen.
