Fremantle young gun Mikayla Morrison has had her 2022 campaign curtailed after suffering a ruptured ACL at training this week.

Morrison has been a bright spark for the Dockers across four matches this season, highlighted by a Rising Star nomination against Carlton in Round 6.

The Dockers' small forward booted three goals to claim the honour, while also adding 13 possessions, five tackles and four marks in the victory.

The 20-year-old will now miss the remainder of the season as she undergoes surgery on her hampered left knee.

“It’s incredibly disappointing that Mikayla will miss the rest of the season, after bursting onto the AFLW scene," Fremantle's Head of Football Operations and Performance Bob Murphy said.

“Mikayla was looking forward to finishing off the year strongly as we approach the upcoming AFLW finals series.

“We will make a decision in due course on when Mikayla will undertake surgery and begin her rehabilitation process.

“The entire Club will wrap our arms around Mikayla and support her through this time.”

Fremantle will continue to pursue their premiership push this weekend when they host fellow flag hopefuls Melbourne at Optus Stadium.
