After a thrilling opening week of the 2022 AFL finals series, the league is now turning its attention to week two, with dates, venues and times confirmed for two mouth-watering semi-finals.

Wins to Brisbane and Fremantle in their respective elimination finals see the two clubs progress to next weekend, with Richmond and the Western Bulldogs falling out of the race.

The Lions will venture to the MCG on Friday, September 9 night to face the reigning premiers in Melbourne, who suffered defeat against Sydney in their qualifying final at the same venue last Friday night.

Falling narrowly close to booking their place in a preliminary final, Collingwood will enter a do-or-die clash against Fremantle, which will take place at the MCG on Saturday, September 10.

Geelong and Sydney have secured themselves home preliminary finals in a fortnight's time. The winner of Melbourne and Brisbane will face the Cats, while Sydney will wait for the victor of Collingwood and Fremantle on the other side of the draw.

“What a perfect start to Finals footy," AFL EGM Clubs, Finance and Broadcasting Travis Auld said in a league statement.

"Every game was exceptional and had hundreds of thousands of fans filling the stadiums – including more than 91,000 at the MCG for Geelong v Collingwood on Saturday night – and millions tuning into the broadcast on the edge of their seats.

“The next week of Finals will be no exception – we’ll continue to see great contests, huge crowds and an electric atmosphere right across the country,” he said.
