Former Giant and Kangaroo Aiden Bonar is set to continue his football career in the VFL, with stand-along outfit Williamstown signing the 24-year-old.

Bonar was drafted with Pick 11 in the 2017 AFL Draft by the GWS Giants. In the two years he spent at the Giants, Bonar played six games. He was traded to the Roos where he would play 28 games, bringing his total over six years in the AFL to 34 games.

North Melbourne delisted the defender after the 2023 season.

In the off-season, Bonar trained with Gold Coast in a last-ditch attempt to earn a list spot during the AFL's Supplementary Selection Period. Despite his efforts, Bonar was unsuccessful.

The Seagulls announced the defender's commitment on Sunday, with the club's social media team taking to Instagram to spread the word.

Williamstown had a strong season in 2023, finishing fifth on the ladder before losing their semi-final to the Brisbane Lions.

Bonar will add some extra defensive class after spending years in the AFL system. After struggling to live up to the expectations of a first-round pick, hopefully, the still-young defender can revitalise his career.
