High-profile free agent Jordan De Goey has knocked back Collingwood's standing five-year contract offer, telling club officials that he won't sign any deal containing behavioural clauses.

As first reported by Michael Gleeson ofย The Age,ย the tattooed dual threat alerted head coach Craig McRae and list boss Graham Wright that he would continue to explore his options, unless the Pies' offer was altered.

Although Collingwood is willing to tie De Goey to the club until the cessation of the 2027 season, they remain wary of the former first-round draftee's rap sheet.

Having fallen foul of the laws and standards, both at home and abroad, De Goey's standing at Collingwood remains far from black and white.

Gleeson confirmed that De Goey's manager, Ryan Vague, had told Wright twice across the past 48 hours that his client's position would not be changing.

Though De Goey is said to have agreed to an array of the unknown clauses, the remainder are reportedly seen as too restrictive by the 26-year-old.

With the ball in Collingwood's court and St Kilda still said to be interested in the Oakleigh Chargers product, De Goey has options up his sleeve.

The Saints are said to be willing to part with $1 million a season to lure the gamechanger to Linton Street.

Should the Saints prove successful in their efforts to land De Goey, the Pies would net themselves a first-round compensation selection at this year's National Draft.

Since debuting during the opening round of the 2015 season, De Goey has gone on to add a further 136 appearances to his name.
