Former North Melbourne premiership player David King says the Hawks as "almost a certainty" to make finals as they look ahead to a favourable draw in the second half of the season.

The Hawks currently sit one spot outside the eight with seven wins in their first 12 games. King has no doubt that barring any setbacks they'll be able to win enough to climb up the ladder.

“They don’t play a team inside the eight for eight weeks,” King told SEN's Whateley.

“That is an amazing opportunity for this club and this master coach to show why they are always a threat.

“They fashion ways to win.”

King praised the way the Hawks play and said they'd definitely be able to pick up enough wins considering they don't verse any top eight sides for the next eight weeks.

“They’re almost a certainty to make the eight,” he said.

“And if they don’t make it on wins, they’ll make it on percentage.

“Given that next eight weeks they’ll be having some wins and they’ll be having some big wins across that journey.”

This Saturday, the Hawks will take on a struggling Gold Coast team in Tasmania. The next seven weeks they'll take on GWS, the Western Bulldogs, Brisbane, Carlton, Fremantle and Essendon.
