Former North Melbourne premiership player David King says the Hawks as "almost a certainty" to make finals as they look ahead to a favourable draw in the second half of the season.

The Hawks currently sit one spot outside the eight with seven wins in their first 12 games. King has no doubt that barring any setbacks they'll be able to win enough to climb up the ladder.

โ€œThey donโ€™t play a team inside the eight for eight weeks,โ€ King told SEN'sย Whateley.

โ€œThat is an amazing opportunity for this club and this master coach to show why they are always a threat.

โ€œThey fashion ways to win.โ€

King praised the way the Hawks play and said they'd definitely be able to pick up enough wins considering they don't verse any top eight sides for the next eight weeks.

โ€œTheyโ€™re almost a certainty to make the eight,โ€ he said.

โ€œAnd if they donโ€™t make it on wins, theyโ€™ll make it on percentage.

โ€œGiven that next eight weeks theyโ€™ll be having some wins and theyโ€™ll be having some big wins across that journey.โ€

This Saturday, the Hawks will take on a struggling Gold Coast team in Tasmania. The next seven weeks they'll take on GWS, the Western Bulldogs, Brisbane, Carlton, Fremantle and Essendon.
