Geelong superstar Patrick Dangerfield has hit back at claims made by Kane Cornes that the former Adelaide midfielder "exaggerates" his injuries.

Speaking on the Sunday Footy Show on Channel Nine, Cornes told the panel that his teammates while at the Crows had to confront Dangerfield about how he acts when injured.

“He does exaggerate injuries,” Cornes said.

“In his time at Adelaide, his teammates had to sit him down and say, ‘Look, you do carry on a little bit with your injuries’.

“And he does (carry on), so I’d be surprised if he missed with that injury yesterday.”

Dangerfield slammed Cornes' comments, and just couldn't believe people thought what Cornes said was true.

“I just laugh at Kane Cornes — that’s all you can do I think,” Dangerfield told Melbourne radio station KIIS 101.1 on Monday morning.

“It’s great we’ve got someone from the Crows’ inner sanctum. No one was as welcome as Kane Cornes in the Adelaide change rooms.

“I don’t think I need to reference his career at times. I’ll leave it at that.

“Surprisingly I never had that conversation. Maybe Kane should do a little bit more research next time.”

Dangerfield was also asked whether he took comments like that seriously, and the 2016 Brownlow Medallist it didn't bother him that much.

“I don’t take it to heart,” Dangerfield added.

“If you watch the NBA or the NFL, some of the things that get said in the media over there is totally ruthless and it certainly makes for entertaining TV.

“I didn’t lose any sleep over it.”
