Delisted Hawks forward Oliver Hanrahan has signed with VFL club Werribee for next season.

The 23-year-old is sure to add plenty of pace and poise to the Tigers' squad for 2022, having been an exciting talent during his time at Waverley.

Hawthorn confirmed in October that Hanrahan would not be offered a new deal, with the young Hawk understood to have gained some interest from the Giants, Cats, Saints and Suns throughout 2021.

Despite the potential lifeline offerings, Hanrahan will set his sights on the VFL for the following 12 months, with Werribee announcing on Monday that the small-forward has signed with the club.

Harahan is tipped to feature as a midfielder for the Tigers, having shown plenty of pedigree as an onballer in his time with Box Hill in the second tier.

Speaking on his next move, Hanrahan expressed his delight in venturing to Chirnside Park to work under former Dockers and Suns midfielder Michael Barlow.

“Werribee really stood out to me as a club,” Hanrahan said.

“I came here and checked out the facility, met some really good people, Mick Barlow as head coach, I’m really looking forward to working with him with his experience.

“I just really liked the opportunity Werribee had in front of me and I’m very keen to get down to the club in the New Year, meet everyone and get to work.”

Hanrahan will link up with former Demon Kye Declase at the Tigers, with the ex-Demon having also signed with Werribee in the past week.

Declase returns to Avalon Airport Oval after joining Melbourne via the 2021 Mid-Season Rookie Draft, where he was unable to record an AFL appearance.

The 25-year-old will also feature for Northern Football League club Hurstbridge in 2022 when his services aren't required at Werribee.
