After enduring multiple injury-interrupted seasons, Charlie Curnow is finally in career-best form in navy blue and has indicated he wants to remain at the club long-term.

Managing a 20-game season in 2018, the 25-year-old then played just 15 games between 2019 and 2021 after suffering ongoing knee issues.

With the Blues flying in 2022 and Curnow looking right at home inside 50, the forward spoke to Nine News candidly about his return from injury.

“When you are really injured you kind of think, ‘It’s not your time’,” Curnow said.

“You learn about being patient … every moment that’s coming at me now I’m really enjoying.”

With fellow big forward Harry McKay sidelined with a meniscus injury, Curnow has been a commanding target inside 50, already having kicked 37 goals for the season, but the 2018 leading goalkicker revealed that he was looking forward to having McKay rejoin him up forward.

“I’m missing ‘Big H’, to be honest,” Curnow said.

“There’s a little bit less running when he’s not there which is enjoyable and has its moments, but I’m looking forward to having him back, that’s for sure.”

Having remained a Blue since his debut in 2016, the out-of-contract Curnow seems in no rush to finalise details about a new deal, but remains confident he won't be straying from Ikon Park.

“I’ll leave it to my manager and the Carlton Football Club,” Curnow said.

“I’m in no rush, I’m happy where I’m at and I’m definitely not going anywhere.

“It definitely is (good being at Carlton at the moment).”
