Crows veteran Taylor Walker has labelled this week's rising star nomination as an "absolute joke."

Collingwood's Isaac Quaynor was awarded the round 17 nomination over Adelaide's Lachlan Sholl, with the Magpies young gun collecting 17 disposals against Gold Coast.

The nomination left Walker bemused as Sholl was shining light in the Crows' win over Carlton, racking up 24 disposals and booting two goals.

The ex-captain and some of his teammates took to social media to express their disappointment of the nomination, labelling the decision an "absolute joke" on an Instagram story post.

According to Fox Sports, Rising Star nominations given out later in the season weigh in a player's body of work over the campaign as opposed to a single performance.
