The GWS Giants have secured the services of a corporate giant, announcing Tim Reed as the latest name to join the club's Board of Directors.

Reed's expertise, honed as President of the Business Council of Australia, will be welcomed by those at Tom Wills Oval as the league's youngest team embarks on their latest chapter under freshly minted head coach Adam Kingsley.

Having sat on boards of multi-billion dollar organisations, including Transurban, Potentia Capital and MYOB, Reed holds a sound business and technological acumen that will now be aimed at shoring up the Giants in an off-field sense.

Aside from holding degrees from both the University of Melbourne and Harvard, Reed has also remained a Giants member since 2015.

Within a prepared statement released on Tuesday morning, GWS' Chairman Tony Shepard hailed Reed's resume, whilst also welcoming him into the Giants' percussion in an official capacity.

"We're delighted to welcome Tim to the GIANTS Board,” Mr Shepherd said.

“Tim brings vast experience in business operations, technology, management and strategy - and as President of the Business Council of Australia, he is actively involved in government and member relations - that will contribute to the continued evolution of our organisation with a view to meeting our significant growth agenda.

“As a long-term GIANTS member Tim also has a strong understanding of the club's development over the past decade and has a long held passion for AFL."

Speaking himself, Reed expressed that he was enthused about being able to combine his dual passions in life: footy and the whirls of the business world.

“I've been privileged to be part of the GIANTS as a member and fan since 2015 and have watched the GIANTS grow from an organisation with an AFL team to an organisation with AFL, AFLW and Netball teams, while achieving a host of impressive milestones along the way," he said.

“As the club continues to grow, I'm excited to be able to combine my passion for Australian Football with my professional experience and expertise to help build on what has been so successfully established over the past 11 years.”

GWS finished the 2022 season in 16th position, claiming just six wins from their 22 appearances.

Kingsley's signature came ahead of the departures of coalface engineers Tim Taranto and Jacob Hopper during last month's exchange period, with both landing at Punt Road.

The Giants will enter November's AFL Draft with a strong hand, comprised of picks 1, 15, 18, 19, 31, 57, 61, 79.
