Two of the AFL's most notable and historic teams, Collingwood and Carlton are both 0-2 going into their match up tonight at the MCG and Port Adelaide premiership player Kane Cornes believes the Magpies have a lot more to lose.

Cornes says that whoever loses tonight will come away from the game knowing that their season is all but over, explaining that "we can put a thick, red line through their season."

Losing Friday's match will mean very different things to both teams. A Carlton loss will be disappointing, however they have shown good form and their young players have been spectacular to start the season, so for them there is still a development aspect.

On the other side of the coin, heads are beginning to turn once again towards Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley and how secure his coaching position is in the midst of his team's underwhelming start.

"It would be a shattering loss for Carlton tonight, considering they started their campaign so promisingly with a five-goal burst against the reigning premiers, it’d be catastrophic for Nathan Buckley and signal the end of his coaching career," Cornes wrote on sen.com.au.

"If the Pies lose tonight, it’s a fair assumption that they’ll be 0-6 to start this season."

Cornes said he will be looking for a shake up to Collingwood's lineup and forward structure, while also hoping that captain Scott Pendlebury and midfielder Adam Treloar are the stars of their own redemption story in tonight's clash against the Blues.
