Collingwood forward Beau McCreery says his "eyes are on the prize" when quizzed about his links to Tasmania.

It is understood that the Devils are keen to bring in McCreery ahead of their AFL introduction in 2028, and are prepared to offer $7 million over seven years to play for the league's newest team.

The speedy Pie also comes out of contract at the end of next year, heightening the prospect of a potential move.

"I was waiting for that one," McCreery said on Triple M.

"I was as rattled as you. They haven't reached out to me personally. I've seen a few photos of me in (a Tasmanian jumper) but they're all fake.

"Obviously, it's pretty big news to hear. I'm still contracted at Collingwood for the next two years. My eyes are on the prize there.

"We've got a big game this week."

McCreery also discussed the evolution of his game and his emergence as a midfielder alongside Nick Daicos.

The South Australian was set for more prominent midfield minutes this season, but pre-season foot surgery delayed his presence, which has been building slowly as the campaign continues.

"I'm absolutely loving (going through the midfield)," he added.

"I started going through there at the end of last year. The plan was to have a big pre-season and play pure midfield in the pre-season at least, to get fit.

"I had foot surgery, so that went out the window pretty quickly. I've been trying to get in there as much as I can, especially centre bounces. Get a bit of speed through there, especially with big Steeny (Oscar Steene) absolutely killing it."
