Collingwood has announced mid-season draftee Roan Steele as its third debutant for 2025, and will take on Carlton at the MCG on Friday night.

Steele arrived at the AIA Centre late in May through Pick 8 on the mid-year intake, and has quickly impressed in his four games in the VFL.

Before joining the Pies, Steele spent time at the Casey Demons in the VFL (2022-2024) before moving to West Perth in the WAFL for the 2025 season.

He played seven games for West Perth before Collingwood swooped on him.

Steele has averaged 19 disposals from his three VFL games in black and white, with his latest performance catching the eye of coach Craig McRae.

Ironically, Steele could replace his namesake and veteran Steele Sidebottom after it was confirmed that the latter was battling illness.

Brayden Maynard will return this week after overcoming an ankle injury. Veteran midfielder Tom Mitchell is also in the selection frame after a successful return from injury through the VFL.

Steele follows on from Will Hayes and Charlie West, who debuted in 2025.
