New faces: The Pies’ first draft pick Jaidyn Stephenson is the only new name to their best 22 in 2018, a tall midfielder/forward who oozes match-winning potential.

Speedy defender Sam Murray was acquired in the trade period from Sydney and could squeeze his way into the side, as could draftee Nathan Murphy.

On the fringe: The Pies have a host of players competing for the final few spots in the side, most notably Tim Broomhead, Josh Smith, Lynden Dunn, Mason Cox, Josh Thomas, James Aish and Jarryd Blair.

Youngsters Callum Brown, Nathan Murphy, Kayle Kirby, Sam Murray and Josh Daicos should also get their opportunity to impress at some stage of 2018.
