Geelong have confirmed midfielder Tim Kelly has asked for a trade back to WA, although they believe it’s “highly likely” he’ll remain a Cat for the 2019 season.

The club released the following statement on their website.

Tim Kelly has asked that the club explore the possibility of trading him to his home state, Western Australia.

As is well known, Tim is under contract to the Cats for the 2019 season, and it is highly likely he will remain with the club.

However out of respect for Tim, we will listen to what Fremantle and West Coast are prepared to offer and determine whether or not we believe it is a viable trade for our club.

  1. Have we missed the boat here? Whilst Andrew Gaff was making up his mind, we should have offered Tim Kelly for Andrew Gaff. Like-for-like swap which would have made all parties and clubs happy. Maybe that is too simplistic a view, I don’t know.
