Carlton may look to review Harry McKay's goalkicking action following a wayward evening against St Kilda in front of goal.

The Blues booted 8.12 for a total score of 60 - 22 less than St Kilda at the final siren, while Carlton's xScore (expected score) read 79.2, which fell ahead of the Saints' xScore reading of 77.0.

While McKay wasn't the only inaccurate forward in front of goal for Michael Voss' side, the 2021 Coleman Medal winner missed a pair of shots on goal when deciding to snap the ball from distance instead of the more traditional drop-punt from a set shot - one of which failed to add to the Blues' score altogether.

Not for the first time Voss was questioned on whether the club would look to review McKay's technique in front of goal, with the Blues coach admitting the club could "possibly" open those discussions with their key forward.

"That's for us to for review and that'd be feedback that he (McKay) needs to evaluate," Voss said after Sunday's loss.

"We need to get better in that area.

"I don't think that's just for Harry, that's for us as a footy team, our front-half game, and our efficiency around our front-half game needs to improve.

"We can acknowledge that the efficiency part of the game had a pretty significant say on the end result."

Voss remains confident McKay's mentality isn't a factor for the forward's woes in front of goal, while the Blues spearhead having nine goals and eight behinds to his name from six matches

Consistent tweaks and reviews are commonplace among the Blues' attacking contingent, with Voss backing his players to "go to work" on any required changes.

"I'm not a predictor of his mindset, so you'd have to probably ask him that question, but I think he's OK," the Blues coach said.

"We ask the players to be able to look at their technique and how they finish and keep evaluating and have enough humility to know that if it's not working and what do you need to adjust.

"That's all I ask the players to do, but then go to work on it."

Carlton currently sit in seventh spot on the ladder after successive defeats, having recorded three wins, one draw and two losses from their six matches.

The Blues will travel to Perth next week to face West Coast at Optus Stadium on Saturday night.
