Carlton is keen on bringing in free agent duo Joel Amartey and Buku Khamis in the off-season, with Blues chief executive Graham Wright confirming they've met with both players.
Sydney's Amartey has a lucrative deal from both clubs in front of him, and is weighing up his free agency decision as he works his way back from a serious achilles injury, which wiped out the majority of his season.
It's understood the Blues have tabled five-year offers to Amartey and Khamis, with the latter pursued by the Victorian powerhouse last year before the Western Bulldogs held him to his contract.
"At this stage, they're still at their respective clubs, and they are free agents," Wright said on SEN.
"So we spoke to Buku last year. We won't have to get a trade done there. He comes into free agency this year, so we'd love him to be a part of us.
"But we're really mindful that there are other clubs, and you're respectful of that until they tell us something else."
Carlton football boss Chris Davies also spoke on the club's desire to be "aggressive" in the off-season.
Key forward options Jesse Hogan and Calsher Dear have also been linked to the club.
The Blues are currently without a list manager after parting ways with Nick Austin earlier this year.
Despite having a vacancy, Davies confirmed they'll use the resources at Ikon Park to attract rival talent, and worry about filling the role at a later time.
"We'll still try and be as aggressive as we can be," he said on Fox Footy.
"We've got a CEO who has a significant amount of experience in this management. So I've done the job for a long period of time to have a view of whether I'm capable to do it or not. We've got other people in our list management and recruiting area who have long histories in the AFL.
"Probably think right now is not the appropriate time to be ripping someone out of another club to do that for us. So we'll get through the next period of time in a way that will position the club for what we want for 2027. But we'll be going through with our existing people right now."
