Swans stars Dan Hannebery and Lance Franklin are still a few weeks away and are unlikely to take the field this weekend against Hawthorn, according to foxfooty.com.au.

Hannebery is dealing with a groin issue which has hindered his performance in 2018 and will hold him out of selection. Franklin will be re-evaluated later on in the week to prove his health following his bruised heel complaint.

Swans coach John Longmire spoke on the status of both his star players, explaining where each of them are at with their recovery.

“The groin injury — whether that affects Hanners — I’m not sure whether he ran hard enough on Friday to get the all clear just yet going into a shorter week,” John Longmire told foxfooty.com.au.

Longmire is giving Franklin consideration this week, while early reports mentioned that his injury would sideline him a little longer, an early return could be on the cards for the Swans.

“He’s [Lance Franklin] a chance.”

“We will see how it is. It’s a Friday game, so not sure if that impact it or not. We will see whether he is up and going by Wednesday.”

The Swans will hope to take down Hawthorn at the MCG on Friday night.
