Sydney Swans star forward Lance Franklin could miss a few more weeks due to a bruised heel injury that he's been battling with since Round 1, according to SEN journalist Sam Edmund.

Franklin was sidelined last weekend in Sydney's win over Geelong for the first time this season and will now miss two in a row after not being named in Sydney's lineup for their upcoming clash against North Melbourne.

“There is still no Lance Franklin as he looks to recover from heel soreness, which has been plaguing him since Round 1 ... another few weeks is what I'm hearing,” Edmund told SEN Breakfast.

The four-time Coleman Medallist sustained the injury in Round 1 and persisted through injury for the next four rounds of football, which potentially could have worsened the soreness and the reason he may miss a few more weeks.

“He has been battling with it for a while until it got too much,” Edmund explained.

“Heels are nasty [injuries] and I can’t believe he was able to play with a bruised heel ... anyone out there who has had one would tell you they’re extremely sensitive and tender."
