7AFL journalist Tom Browne has announced on Sunday afternoon that Carlton coach, David Teague and fan favourite, Eddie Betts will not be with the club in 2022.

In a brief statement made on Seven's pre-game coverage, the news breaker suggested that although the pair would see out the season in their respective roles, their time at Princes Park would be over at the cessation.

"I do expect that Carlton will formally part company with Teague in the next seven to eight days," Browne began.

"Officially, it certainly won't happen today and it's doubtful it will happen early next week, but it's going to be a big week for the Blues."

Browne also claimed that Betts, the smiling small forward who started his first stint with the club in 2005, was set to call time on his storied career.

"I expect Eddie Betts will probably hang up his boots following next weekend," the reporter continued.

The eccentric journalist finished his statement by claiming that the Blues had their eyes on a pair of successors for Teague's seat.

"It's going to be an interesting week at the Blues. There's a lot of discussion now about Ross Lyon potentially coaching Carlton if Alastair Clarkson doesn't want to take up that role next year," Browne concluded.

Saturday afternoon's 95-point thumping at the hands of Port Adelaide appeared to have been the final nail in Teague's coffin, with the incumbent coach himself claiming that his side's efforts hadn't helped his cause to remain in the position.
