Brisbane has reportedly re-signed first-year midfielder Rhys Mathieson on a two-year deal.

AFL.com.au has reported that the new deal will keep the highly rated youngster at the club until at least the end of the the 2019 season.

Mathieson, who is yet to make his senior debut, was selected with pick No. 39 in the 2015 National Draft.

The 18-year-old looked set to debut early in the year, but has been sidelined due to a fractured cheekbone suffered during the NAB Challenge and only recently returned via the NEAFL.
