Collingwood hopes to move up from Pick 11 at the AFL Draft next month.
The Pies have had just one player drafted from the open pool since 2015 who has gone on to play 100 AFL games for the club.
They'll look to bring in key position depth via their first selection, with veterans at either end of the field needing replacements in the next few years.
Sam Gayfer looms as a prospect, and given his links to the Pies through his premiership-winning uncle, it would be a nice touch.
Gayfer is tipped to land inside the top 10 of the draft, meaning if Collingwood want more confidence in securing the talent, its desire to move up the order, reported by AFL Media, will need to occur.
Tyson Bradley and Clancy Snell also loom as draft options at the Pies' first pick, with the latter having spent time at the club this year.
Brisbane is also looking to shop around its Pick 21 in this year's draft, with its eyes firmly on ensuring it has enough points to secure academy prospect, Caylen Murray.
The Lions did some wheeling-and-dealing with Essendon to snare Pick 21 for Keidean Coleman, while a trade with GWS landed the reigning premiers Picks 27 and 28.
Picks 21 and 27 net 1254 draft points, but given the 20 per cent tax on club-tied prospects due to winning the flag, they can only match (without going into a deficit) Pick 11 (1205 points).
Port Adelaide are willing to shuffle either Picks 7 or 12, while the Giants don't want to move from Pick 9 as they work through what an Ethan Matthews bid looks like.
The Power's priority is ensuring they have enough points to secure Dougie Cochrane, who looms as a Pick 1 fancy. It'll cost the club 2700 points.
Port Adelaide have also loaded up next year's draft with a host of club-tied prospects.
GWS holds Picks 9 and 20, whilst Matthews' stellar season has pushed him further up the draft board.
Cross-town rival Sydney has Pick 6 and has a history in bidding on Giants prospects.
Clubs can swap picks up until November 6 and again on draft night. The draft will be held on November 19 and 20.
