The Gold Coast Suns have revealed Jarrod Harbrow has been charged with drink driving by Queensland Police.

Harbrow was caught with a blood alcohol level of more than double the legal limit after drinking heavily on Sunday night.

He will not be available for selection for this week and could also face further sanctions from the club.

Meanwhile, the club has also revealed Jack Martin was the victim of an assault over the weekend.

The Suns released the following statement a short time ago:

"Gold Coast is extremely disappointed to advise Jarrod Harbrow was this morning charged by Queensland Police with driving under the influence of alcohol.

Harbrow, who had been drinking at home on Sunday evening, recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.108.

"Jarrod has expressed to us that he is extremely embarrassed by his actions and understands his poor judgement has let many people and his club down,” General Manager of Football, Marcus Ashcroft said.

"In the next period of time Jarrod will have to work hard to regain the trust and respect of his teammates, peers and the wider Gold Coast community.

"On top of the legal sanctions to be imposed in due course, we can confirm that Jarrod will be unavailable for senior selection this week. The club will hold further discussions with Jarrod and finalise its penalty following consultation with senior management and the player leadership group.”

Separately the club also advises Jack Martin was the victim of an assault over the weekend.

Police have charged a man in relation to the incident.

Martin has been cleared of any misconduct and is preparing to play this weekend."
