Carlton have confirmed Blues co-captain Sam Docherty has suffered an ACL injury, his second in as many years.
Docherty missed the entire 2018 campaign after sustained a torn ACL on the first day of pre-season last year, and now looks set to miss all of 2019 as well.
Carlton's Head of Football Brad Lloyd confirmed the news to the club's website, and spoke about everyone's disappointment surrounding the injury.
โItโs clearly a huge disappointment for Sam to experience such cruel luck, we are all feeling for him right now," Lloyd told carltonfc.com.au.
โThe way he tackled his rehab this year was simply incredible and he could have played at the end of last season before the decision was made to hold him back.
