Geelong now have two Selwoods on their list...but the Cats could enter the season opener against Hawthorn with neither one, with both in doubt due to injury.

Captain Joel Selwood will miss the NAB Challenge due to heel pain, while younger brother Scott is still battling ankle pain that has hampered him during the past two seasons and is also likely to miss the pre-season matches.

It puts both players in doubt for Geelong's round one clash against Hawthorn on Easter Monday.

“The last couple of years have been quite frustrating,” Scott Selwood said on SEN on Friday.

“I know I can’t do a full pre-season, but it’s more about getting continuity in my sessions and when I’m ready to go I come back in and have the impact I know I can have.

“It has been a bit frustrating over the last couple of years and it probably had a little bit to play with coming back home just trying to get a fresh start with the ankle.

“It was quite frustrating, I did play a long string of games there for a while and then to be in and out through injury, it affected my form a bit.”

Geelong kick off their NAB Challenge campaign against Collingwood on February 26.
