Essendon is reportedly showing strong interest in two-time Geelong premiership player Matthew Stokes.

Crocmedia's Mitch Clearly has reported that Stokes is attracting interest from the Bombers as the club looks to find another nine top-up players, after the signing of Ryan Crowley on Tuesday.

Stokes kicked 203 goals in 189 career games with the Cats after making his debut in 2006.

He was an integral member of Geelong's premiership sides of 2007 and 2011.

Stokes, 31, has been playing in the Northern Territory Football League since being let go by Geelong at the end of last season.
