Essendon star forward Nate Caddy has been released from hospital after he was removed from Sunday's game against GWS with an elevated heart rate, but is expected to play next week.
Caddy left the ground during the first quarter at Marvel Stadium with what the club initially said was illness.
The youngster was in obvious discomfort, but the good news is he has returned home.
“There was some concern in the first quarter when Nate's heart rate became elevated. He was removed from the game, and our medical team assessed him at the ground before sending him to hospital for further assessment. He was discharged last night and is back at home," Essendon football boss Dan McPherson said.
"He is expected to be able to train and play without concern this week."
Caddy's health scare marred the club's second win of the season, which is the first since Gather Round over Melbourne, while an injury watch on ruckman Nick Bryan (ribs) and Xavier Duursma (hamstring) will be monitored throughout the week.
"It's a bloody good feeling," Solomon said.
"Our footy club's been on its knees for a period of time, and the footy world's jumped on that, and they enjoy us sitting at the bottom.
"We've felt that, and we don't like that, so to push back a little bit and get one win, albeit one win, I'm just really happy for these players."
Leading the impressive victory was veteran midfielder Zach Merrett, who is tipped to depart at season's end.
Despite the speculation, Merrett produced an impressive performance, and responded to his lowly outing from last week.
“He's a champion, Zach. He's got a lot of pride in his performance and who he is and his last name,” Solomon said.
“I wasn't (concerned). I know how he's going to respond.
“He texted me a couple of weeks ago when we fell short against North, but we said to each other, ‘We'll get to sing the song together before the end of the year', and we got to do it today which was a special moment.”
The Bombers' win lifted the club off the bottom of the ladder, drawing level with Richmond on two wins, but with a superior percentage.
Essendon will return to the MCG to face old enemy Hawthorn on Saturday.
