Former Western Bulldogs captain Bob Murphy believes controversial Hawthorn bad boy James Sicily has to reflect on his on-field actions, questioning his decision making on SEN Breakfast on Tuesday morning.

Sicily was in the Match Review Panel's spotlight once again this weekend, an was sent straight to the tribunal after he seemed to step on North Melbourne's Shaun Atley in an attempt to hurt his opponent.

Murphy questioned the Hawthorn defender's motive behind this behaviour, claiming that he is failing to impose himself as an intimidating figure and instead is acting out of sorts.

“I just don’t know what he or the Hawks are getting out of it because opposition teams wouldn’t view him as an intimidating figure," Murphy told SEN Breakfast.

“Dermott Brereton was an intimidating, imposing figure in the game, so when he did those sort of things, it added to the whole Dermott show. Whereas James Sicily, I don’t know why he is doing these things.”

“He is a damn good player but I don’t know why he is doing it.”

This is the second time this season that Sicily has come under the microscope by the MRP's Michael Christian after he was dealt with a one-week suspension for dropping a violent knee into the head of Geelong's Joel Selwood in round two.

Murphy said he believes that a one-week ban will suffice for the young Hawk.
