Blues forward Jack Silvagni has received a recall into Carlton's selected side to take on Essendon just a day after being announced as an omission for Sunday's contest.

Towering ruckman Marc Pittonet is the Blues' casualty, pulling up unfit on Saturday for an undisclosed reason.

Per a statement, the Blues said he was unable to pass a final fitness test.

The reprieve means Silvagni will play against the Bombers on Sunday in what is a clash of enormous importance for the Blues.

Youngster Jaxon Binns has been added to Carlton's list of emergencies for gameday.
