Fremantle midfielder Harley Bennell's woes have continued to worsen, obtaining a calf injury only a month after being relegated to their WAFL counterpart the Peel Thunder.

The alleged injury is apparently not related to his previous injury also in the left leg.

It is unknown at this stage the recovery time of the injury and exactly when he will start playing footy again.

Its a generic and rather tragic tale of an extremely talented individual who simply cannot get his act together.

We could speak about the likes of the UFC's Jon Jones who much like Harley is extremely talented at what he does, but obviously thrives in the party atmosphere. Obviously completely different athletes but same premise.

Bennell was taken at pick number two in the 2010 national draft to the newly formed Gold Coast Suns, his skill was widely noticed in a then poor suns lineup, however it has all been downhill from there.

A widely known alcohol issue saw him ejected from a flight to the Gold Coast, with the incident eventually earning him a suspension. The tipping point came in mid-2015 when tabloid photos surfaced of the midfielder allegedly snorting an illicit substance.

He was then traded to the Dockers, yet the off-field troubles have not stopped. He has only played a minuscule two games in the two years he has spent at the club. For reference he was banned from the Peel Thunder earlier this year for a scuffle outside of a Perth nightclub.

You would think that it is now situation critical for Harley, as he realistically has one more chance at the club post injury, to really showcase the skill he produced in 2011 and 2012.

However only time will tell, and he will seemingly have a a lot of it to think about his career choices.
