Collingwood's women's team has signed Australian volleyball representative, Eliza Hynes, for the 2018 AFLW season.

Hynes, who stands at 183cm tall, is the latest player to cross from a different sport, following countless code switches for the inaugural season of the competition earlier this year.

The 25-year-old was first selected to represent Australia in 2014 and played in the FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix and has spent time playing volleyball throughout Europe.

She has also represented Australia in beach volleyball, winning a bronze medal at the U19 World Championships.

“I grew up with my dad being a die-hard Collingwood fan and brother playing football so I’ve always been around the game and now having the opportunity to play is a dream come true,” Hynes told the club's website.

“I’ll look at being a forward and back-up ruck, I’ll be looking at those areas to really try and make an impact on the game.”
