St Kilda defender Daniel McKenzie is set to assess his options elsewhere as the Saints look to open up cap space for Adelaide midfielder Brad Crouch, per The Herald Sun.

The 24-year-old failed to break into Brett Ratten's defense in 2020 after playing 49 games across the last four seasons.

McKenzie has expressed his desire to move clubs, with the futures of fellow defenders Jimmy Webster and Dylan Roberton also in doubt at Moorabbin.

The Saints are hoping to land free agent Crouch in the coming days as the free agency exchange period opens up on Friday.

The Crows have revealed their plans to match any offer the Saints make for the midfielder unless it's high enough to hand Adelaide pick 2 as compensation.

It is understood that St Kilda aren't looking to pay over $700,000-per-season for Crouch, while the Crows aren't interested in several of the Saints' fringe players to swing a trade deal.

The Saints also announced the contracts extensions for defender Ben Paton and young midfielder Jack Bytel this week.
