Collingwood forward Josh Thomas is yet to be offered a new deal by the Magpies for the 2022 season.

Thomas is among several Collingwood players that are yet to know where their future lies for next season, with the club undergoing a list rebuild as new coach Craig McRae takes the lead.

The 30-year-old has played 123 games in the black and white, first making his debut with the club in 2013.

Having joined the Magpies as the 75th overall selection, Thomas has firmed as a bargain for Collingwood, but his tenure at the Holden Centre is now facing an unclear path this off-season.

Collingwood football boss Graham Wright revealed on Trade Radio on Friday that Thomas hasn't been offered a new deal as the Magpies continue their planning through the exchange window.

"He hasn't he hasn't been offered a contract as it sits at this stage," Wright said. "A free agent so he would be able to be picked up by any other club as well.

"We've been pretty upfront and honest, we need to get through the trade period and see what we have available to us in relation to list spots.

"He's been a good player for the club for a long period of time and we'd love to keep everyone and offer everyone deals but sometimes it doesn't work out that way.

"We just have to see where it sits when we get to the end of the trade period."

Earlier this week, Thomas' manager Tim Hazell told SEN that Thomas remains keen to continue his career at the Magpies, however conceded there remains to play several steps between the two parties coming to an agreement.

“He played 20 games this year. We’ve been having consistent chats with ‘Wrighty’ (Graham Wright) and the Collingwood footy club about where his contract is at," Hazell said.

“We should hopefully find out a little bit more next week. It’s just one of those uncomfortable ones.

“He’d love to go on, but if that’s the not case, he’ll have a really smooth transition out of the game.

“But as I said, he played 20 games this year, he’s a much-loved figure down there at Collingwood and I know that the fans love him.

“He’s had a relationship with ‘Fly’ (Craig McRae) back when Fly was a development coach at Collingwood, so there’s a little bit to play out.”

Ruckman Mason Cox, young tall Max Lynch, midfielder Brayden Sier and defender John Noble are among the Magpies players without a deal for next year.
