Greater Western Sydney are reportedly showing interest in out-of-favour Melbourne swingman Tom McDonald as the Giants prepare for life after Jeremy Cameron.

According to SEN's Sam Edmund, GWS have asked the question of the 28-year-old as the Demons make their own play for North Melbourne's Ben Brown.

McDonald has fallen out of Simon Goodwin's side after failing two impress as a key forward while the Demons remain comfortable with their current tall defensive stocks and will be open to a trade for McDonald.

The Demons will worry McDonald's heavy two-year contract could turn rival clubs away.

The Melbourne swingman played just nine games in 2020, with his last in round 13 as Sam Weideman and Luke Jackson man the Demons' forward 50.

McDonald booted seven goals this season and just 18 from 15 games last year, failing to back up a career best campaign in 2018 with 53 goals to his name.

The Giants are set to lose Cameron to Geelong after the star forward decided to exercise his free agency rights.

While GWS have Jeremy Finlayson, Harry Himmelberg and up-and-comer Jake Riccardi positioned as their forward talls, the club could look to add McDonald as a utility given their history of ongoing injuries.
