The father of troubled Carlton player Elijah Hollands, Ben, has taken to social media to post a heartwarming message to his son, and to those who may be struggling.

Ben is vowing to "lift him up until he is restored in full", whilst urging others to take care of those who need it.

Elijah has been admitted to hospital following a mental health episode during last week's clash against Collingwood.

"This is my beautiful boy," his post read. "For anyone in the midst of healing…

"You are loved. You have a unique and defined purpose. You are seen whole.

Ben Hollands played eight games for Richmond in 1999, but was originally recruited by Sydney from North Albury.

Both his sons, Elijah and Ollie, play at Carlton, with Elijah joining the Blues ahead of 2024.
