The AFL will wait until Essendon's appeal to a Swiss court before making a decision on the legitimacy of Jobe Watson's Bronwlow Medal.

The League was expected to make a ruling next week, but have opted to wait, with the Herald Sun reporting that Watson is understood to be one of the players appealing his guilty verdict.

Essendon players who have opted to appeal their guilty verdict will not be applying for an injunction to their bans as they risk two year suspensions, but will instead aim to clear their names in a Swiss court later this year.
