The penultimate weekend of the 2022 AFL season is locked in, with the premiership race now narrowed to just four clubs.

Having booked themselves an automatic entry into a preliminary final with week one wins, Geelong and Sydney will host the final two matches of the season on the Friday night and Saturday afternoon of next week respectively.

The Cats will welcome Brisbane to the MCG on September 16, with the match to commence at 7:50pm in the traditional Friday night time slot.

The Lions will be looking to add to their impressive finals campaign, having claimed the scalps of Richmond and Melbourne in successive weeks, breaking their MCG hoodoo against the latter.

Friday's match will be Brisbane's second preliminary final in the last three seasons, while Geelong will be playing in their 12th since 2007.

The second game of the weekend will see the Swans host Collingwood at the SCG, a fixture that recently featured in Round 22 of this season.

Sydney amassed a 27-point win in that match, a result that was their sixth win in a current eight-game winning run.

The Magpies will travel to New South Wales after defeating Fremantle in their semi-final on Saturday night, looking to gain revenge over Sydney following their result from last month.

That match will commence at 4:45 (AEST) on Saturday, September 17.
