The AFL's Match Review Officer has charged two players from Monday's match between Melbourne and Collingwood, with a pair of Demons receiving sanctions.

First-year Demon Xavier Lindsay has been charged with a tripping offence on Collingwood's Bobby Hill from the third term of the one-point game.

The charge has resulted in a fine for Lindsay, who has been handed a $1500 penalty for his actions.

Lindsay can reduce that penalty to $1000 with an early plea.

Teammate Trent Rivers has been charged with making careless contact with an umpire, resulting in a $3125 fine.

Rivers can lodge an eaely plea and have the fine reduced to $1875.

No other players were charged from Monday's game.
