Sydney's banned quintet will not be considered for All Australian selection, the AFL confirmed on Wednesday.

Nick Blakey, Chad Warner, Isaac Heeney, Riley Bice and James Jordon will all not be part of the squad as Victoria Police investigate the events of early Monday morning.

"Following the decision and appropriate club sanction imposed by the Sydney Swans today in relation to the conduct of five of their players, the AFL has determined those players will not be considered for selection in the 2026 All Australian squad," the AFL statement read.

"This decision is independent of the ongoing Victoria Police investigation.

"The 2026 All Australian squad will be finalised on Monday 24 August, with the team announced at the AFL Awards on Tuesday 25 August in Melbourne."

Blakey, Warner and Heeney were all viewed as likely selections in the squad at a minimum. Blakey and Warner have one previous All Australian blazer, while Heeney has three.

Blakey has been one of the competition's most damaging half-backs, averaging 26 disposals.

Warner and Heeney have formed a dangerous one-two punch in the midfield, averaging 23 and 27 disposals respectively.

The league had previously delayed the announcement of the squad until Monday, ahead of the team being confirmed on Tuesday.

The squad was initially slated to be released this week before the AFL put that on pause on the back of the Sydney saga.

It comes after Sydney announced earlier on Wednesday none of the five would be considered for AFL selection again this year.
