Former St Kilda player Stephen Milne has been dropped from the AFL Legends game following public outcry over his sexual assault history.

Milne, who played for St Kilda from 2001 until 2013, was charged with multiple counts of rape in 2014 and ultimately plead guilty to sexually assaulting a 19-year-old woman in 2004. He was fined $15,000 but avoided conviction.

Last Thursday, Milne was announced as a member of team Victoria in the upcoming  Legends Game.

However, this morning, Legends Game partner SEN released a statement saying that Milne had been pulled from the game.

“By mutual agreement, we can confirm that Stephen Milne will not participate in the 2026 Four'N Twenty Legends Game for Prostate Cancer,” The statement said.

“We are committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone who participates in and attends our events, and want the focus of the day to be on football, fundraising and community impact.”

The statement comes following public outcry and internet backlash over Milne's inclusion. Sheryl Moody, spokesperson for Australian Femicide Watch, revealed that the organisation had reached out to the AFL, calling for Milne to be dropped from the game.

“He should never have been platformed to play in the first place,” Moody said.

“People keep excusing the bad and abhorrent behaviour of men, most often when they are famous, but you can't end male violence by platforming violent men.”

Some of the biggest names in football have been named to the event with Geelong champion Joel Selwood named as Victoria coach supported by former Carlton sharpshooter Brendan Fevola as captain, while Hawthorn Brownlow medallist Shane Crawford will captain the All Stars, coached by SEN headliner, Kane Cornes.

Dustin Martin (Victoria) and Cyril Rioli (All Stars) have been named the number 1 pick for their respective sides.
