Former St Kilda great Nick Riewoldt believes the struggling Adelaide Crows should consider moving on Matt or Brad Crouch for a potential top three pick.

The winless Crows are anchored at the bottom of the ladder having suffered their seventh-straight defeat on Monday night at the hands of the Saints.

The club has committed to a rebuild and is currently armed with four picks in the top 30 of this year's draft, including the first overall selection.

Speaking on Fox Footy, Riewoldt believes attaining a compensation pick for restricted free agent Brad Crouch - potentially Pick 2 - or trading Matt could fast track their rebuild.

โ€œIt was stark tonight (Monday) that they were lacking some really damaging midfielders,โ€ Riewoldt said.

โ€œNow we know that the Crouch boys will win big numbers, and Iโ€™ll never profess to be able to get into a playerโ€™s head and understand their intention but it looks like, at least from the outside, that Matt Crouch has defined his game or the success of his game on by the amount of footy that heโ€™s able to win.

โ€œI think they can be really strong contributors still. We saw throughout the year when they made the Grand Final, they were playing great footy โ€“ All-Australian players. Two good footballers.

โ€œIf the Adelaide Football Club can get a really good price for them, and it fits in with their strategy, I donโ€™t think we should look at that necessarily as a knock against those guys as players, itโ€™s just whatโ€™s best for the Adelaide Football Club.

โ€œAt the moment theyโ€™ve got pick No.1, if they are able to extract a compensation pick for one of those boys, which will end up being a first-round pick that goes to pick No.2, thatโ€™s pretty attractive.โ€

Matt has averaged 24.7 disposals and 4.3 clearances per game this season.

Brad, who was sought after by the Suns last year, has averaged 22.4 disposals and 5.1 clearances a game.

The Crows will look to get their first win on the board in 2020 when they face Essendon at Adelaide Oval this Sunday at 1.05pm AEST.
